Get a Library Card

Any resident of North Carolina or anyone who works or attends school in Nash or Edgecombe Counties is eligible for a free library card. Apply in person with a valid government-issued photo identification and proof of current address. Children 3 to 17 years old may have cards in their own name provided a parent or other responsible adult age 18 or older who has a library card applies for them.

Library cards should be treated with care. Patrons are held financially responsible for materials checked out on their library cards. Cards must not be loaned to other people and lost cards should be reported immediately.

We Are an NC Cardinal Library!

Braswell Memorial Library is an NC Cardinal Library and anyone who has a library card from any NC Cardinal Library in North Carolina is welcome too borrow materials or use our library.  In addition we partner with all Nash County public libraries for the benefit of all who live or work in Nash County. We will accept cards issued by these partner libraries and they will accept cards issued by Braswell Memorial LibraryOur Nash County partner libraries:

- H.D. Cooley Library, Nashville.

- Spring Hope Public Library, Spring Hope ( a branch of BML)

- Middlesex Public Library, Middlesex ( a branch of BML)

- Wesley Privette Memorial Library, Bailey (a branch of BML)

Loan Guidelines

Circulating books and books on CD may be borrowed for two weeks.  DVD's may be borrowed for one week. The library reserves the right to limit the number of items borrowed on any one subject so that other patrons will have access to materials on that subject.

Renewals

Materials may be renewed in person, over the telephone (442-1951, ext. 221), or via our online catalog. Unless reserved by another patron, most materials may be renewed twice for two weeks each time.  DVDs may not be renewed.

Return Policy

Materials borrowed from any public library in Nash County (see the list above) may be returned to any public library in Nash County.  External book drops are available 24 hours a day at all the public libraries in Nash County. Materials may also be returned to any NC Cardinal Library.

Holds

All circulating materials may be put on hold by patrons. Holds may be placed in person at the Library, via our online catalog, or over the telephone. When a held item becomes available notification is made by e-mail and telephone. The item will be held awaiting pickup for three business days. Holds may also be placed or picked up at any public library in Nash County (see the list above) and holds may be placed on items at those libraries and picked up at Braswell Memorial Library. In addition holds may be placed on items in any NC Cardinal library and picked up at any NC Cardinal library in the state!
